Worship of one's guru usually includes the recitation of 108 mantras of reverence, recited here in a prayerful manner, followed by meditation using the mantra, Om Shri-Gurave Namah, Salutations to the Guru.

Guru puja or worship of one's guru is considered to be an extremely powerful practice that can lead you to moksha, liberation or enlightenment, by helping you develop shraddha, faith, a commitment to the teachings imparted by your guru. According to advaita Vedanta, the guru's words function as a pramana, a means of knowledge that can remove ajnana, ignorance of your true nature as sat chit ananda, limitless conscious existence. Atma jnana or self-knowledge removes that ignorance and leads to enlightenment.
