In a strange world of illusions and ghosts, after a mysterious disaster, a squad of pilgrims sets out on a journey to the Altar of Chaos to somehow make things right. But not everyone in this squad is a real person, even those who think they are.

This almost sci-fi short story is my attempt to write something in the style of Jack Vance's Dying Earth but with an added twist in the vein of Jeff Noon and Jeffrey Ford. A world that advanced technology has turned into a weird realm of strange magic, a sort of noir-style post-apocalyptic.
