The Indian Air Force has moved its indigenous Light Combat Aircraft Tejas to Jammu and Kashmir. The step has been taken for fighter to gain experience in flying in the valleys of the UT situated along Pakistan border. The IAF keeps moving its aircraft in both Ladakh and J&K to give them flying experience in unique terrain. The indigenous LCA Tejas programme is strongly supported by the Indian Air Force to make it more capable. On July 1, 2023, LCA Tejas completed seven years of service in the Indian Air Force. The aircraft is a multi-role platform that ranks amongst the best in its class. It has been designed to undertake the Air Defence, Maritime Reconnaissance and Strike roles. Also, IAF has its eyes set on the LCA Mark 2 and the AMCA being developed by DRDO. India’s Tejas is considered to be far more capable than Pakistan-China’s JF-17. French HAMMER missiles are expected to add firepower to Tejas.
