In August 2022 my girlfriend
In August 2022 my girlfriend and I took a flight to Indonesia, travelling to discover some of the most beautiful islands of the archipelago: Bali, East Java, Komodo, Gili Islands and Nusa Penida.
We departed from Bali, where we spent five days among the enchanting rice terraces, remote temples, getting in touch with the real Indonesian culture, its traditions and the stories of the local people.
We then travelled to the island of Java, land of majestic waterfalls and active volcanoes, where I managed to film some of the most amazing natural beauty of the trip as well as a typical Indonesian dance in the background of an incredible sunrise and suspended on the clouds surrounding the crater of Mount Bromo.
After catching a plane to Komodo Island, we were faced with pink beaches, crystal-clear sea and a surreal landscape. We were lucky enough to swim among manta rays and sea turtles.
After a long trek, we also came across an iconic animal only present on this island: the Komodo dragon.
After a few days, we moved on to the Gili Islands, where I had the chance to meet and film a kind local fisherman who let us into his daily life and his land. Lastly, we set sail to Nusa Penida, a hidden gem off the coast of Bali with breathtaking cliffs,crystal-clear waters, and white-sand beaches.
Despite the fatigue, lack of sleep and the spirit of adaptation that proved necessary on a few occasions, it was undoubtedly one of the best experiences of my life. I really enjoyed capturing, through my lens, typical dances, pristine landscapes, local crafts and a fascinating culture. I hope I managed to express, at least in part, the emotions I felt during this trip through Indonesia's hidden gems.
