In a mid-week mania, Islamabad United take on Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Wednesday (March 6). This is the second game of the double-header and overall 23rd match of the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL).
The Islamabad-based franchise has 7 points from as many games, winning and losing three matches each, while a game was abandoned due to rain against Quetta Gladiators in the last double-header played at this venue.
On the other hand, the Lahore-based franchise is all but out of the competition. The defending champions are yet to win a game this season. They have lost six out of their seven matches and have only one point in their kitty, courtesy of a washed-out contest against Peshawar Zalmi, which was also played at this very venue in the previous double-header.
These two franchises met earlier in the curtain raiser of the ongoing edition of the PSL, where the United came on top with a comfortable 8-wicket victory in a high-scoring fixture.
Islamabad is coming off a win against Peshawar Zalmi, which, at one stage, was looking like a cakewalk to the Shadab Khan-led side until Aamir Jamal showed some brilliance with the bat, giving a little bit of scare to the opposition.
