Understanding White Collar Crimes : BHARAT CHUGH, Independent Counsel

Here Mr.Bharat Chugh (Independent Counsel & Former Magistrate/Civil Judge) discusses various issues relating to White Collar Crimes (WCC). The conversation ranged from : What really is ‘White Collar Crime’? and the criminology behind it, to a brief overview of principles of corporate criminal liability and salient features of legislations such as Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), Prevention of Corruption Act (POCA), Fugitive Economic Offenders Act (FEO), Benami Act, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), Companies Act, etc.

The conversation ended with a brief discussion on the things that young defence counsels defending such cases should keep in mind, and the way forward for WCC and a few suggestions for legal reform.
