This morning, BOTH CBBC and CBeebies were given new on-air identities via a brand albeit long overdue rebrand, the new on-air look for both CBBC and CBeebies debuted this morning at 6am and 7am respectively. This is the first time CBeebies was given a new logo and new idents since its inception in February 2002, CBBC itself underwent several changes since launching in 2002, this rebrand is the channel’s first new look since March 2016.
Worth noting that as far back as last month (February 2023) the CBBC and CBeebies website designs were leaked revealing both logos. CBBC’s idents are reminiscent of BBC Two’s current on-air look introduced in September 2018. CBBC HQ still looks the same as it did previously but with minor subtle changes with the new logo included, likewise with the CBeebies studio.
It is interesting to note that less than a week after ITV announces that CITV would cease broadcasting to make way for a profile page on ITVX (ITVX Kids), the corporation’s children’s channels were given a new look and put a lot of effort into rebranding both channels despite the fact that both channels are moving to BBC iPlayer by 2025.
