After having your wisdom teeth
After having your wisdom teeth removed, a very common complication that can occur are the formation of dry sockets or alveolar osteitis. After a tooth has been extracted there is a hole in its place. Usually a blot clot forms in this area, however, if the blood clot moves, or does not form completely, the underlying bones and nerves are exposed, putting the patient at a higher risk of post-op infection, and causing severe pain. To prevent dry sockets from forming, Dr. Aalam and Dr. Krivitsky apply advanced platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) treatments, developed utilizing advanced technology, to promote faster healing and stimulate tissue growth after extraction. A sample of the patient's own blood is processed in a centrifuge to create a membrane that consists of red and white blood, plasma, and growth factors. After the wisdom teeth are extracted, the PRF membrane is placed into the hole where the tooth was, to stop dry sockets from forming and to speed healing and recovery time, increase patient comfort, and lower the chances of future complications.

So the dry socket is basically the inflammation and the infection that occurs once the wisdom tooth that has been removed in a very traumatic way. Meaning that where you had to go and remove a lot of bone grind, the tooth, and the socket has not been sealed properly. Where the gums are not closing this extraction socket, the bone gets exposed to the saliva get exposed to this bacteria that you have inside your mouth, and the bone gets infected and inflamed, and therefore this is associated with a lot of pain and discomfort.
The way that we counteract this phenomenon is the fact that we are going to take some of your blood, spin your blood, and extract the stem cells and a growth factor that you carry inside your blood, summarising to the PRF technology. We're going to take those clots of fibrin that we take from you, pack them into the extraction socket, and close back the gums what the stencil are going to do for you is that they're going to allow you comes to heat faster quicker, the edges of the wound are going to close within days, and therefore you're going to be immune and protected against any kind of infection, any kind of dry socket associated with long-term exposure of the bone that is not being covered in proper time and manner.
