The road to SWAIA Indian Market is long even for potters who have been participating for years.  Artists still lose pots, and the Sahmie Sisters--Nyla, Rachel and Jean--all descendants of Nampeyo, the greatest Hopi potter who ever lived, are no exception. They are not immuned to the challenges that everyone faces.  Their sense of responsibility to keep the Nampeyo legacy alive and well is at the forefront of the work they do.  Paul Niemi of http://unclepauliesworld.blogspot.com interviewed the three sisters at Andrews Pueblo Pottery and Art Gallery just prior to the 2010 SWAIA Indian Market.  The three artists talk candidly about "The Road to Indian Market 2010", their styles and their heritage. For more information on the artists, visit www.andrewspp.com.  (Note: This series is in no way affiliated with SWAIA or SWAIA Indian Market)
