What's it like to have a colonoscopy?

We spoke to some members of our community about what it's like to have a colonoscopy.

A colonoscopy is a test that looks inside your large bowel to check the lining for polyps or cancer. A long flexible tube with a bright light and a tiny camera on the end is inserted through your back passage. This allows the doctor or nurse to get a clear view of the bowel lining.

We understand some people may feel nervous or worried if their doctor says they need a colonoscopy. We hope by sharing our community’s experiences it’ll help to put their mind at ease.
