This song, for all it's
This song, for all it's videos claiming it to be an anthem of German South West Africa, actually didn't start out as that. It was originally written as a song for the Deutschen Pfadfinder von Südwestafrika (German scouts of South West Africa.) Due to its great popularity, it became the group-specific anthem of the German Namibians. Because of its lack of any mention of the German state, but focus on German culture, a form of "cultural patriotism" can be inferred.
This specific recording is in fact from a German-Namibian choir located in Swakopmund, which was founded as a German settlement in Südwestafrika. Credit goes to the Swakopmunder Männergesangverein for their excellent recording of this historic song.
