This video chronicles the installation of a "kickstart" capacitor and relay on a central air conditioner. This is also called a "hard start kit". If the central A/C unit either has a hard time starting or the input power is too low, this device will help tremendously.
I purchased one of these for each of my units last year but never installed them until now. That was a mistake, the results were instantaneous, and it made all the difference in the world! Not only do the lights not dim nearly as much, but the compressor starts instantly with no trouble at all. Well worth the small investment.
