Skellig Michael is an Island 12 km off the south west coast of Ireland, it is the Irish film location for episode 8 of the Star Wars series entitled, The Force Awakens. The filming took place in September 2015
The island is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, there is a monastic site 600 feet above sea-level, built between the sixth and eighth centuries. The monastic site comprises six beehive cells, two oratories, stone crosses and a medieval church.
Ireland is a very popular tourist destination as it has so much natural scenery to offer, along with ancient buildings and friendly people.
