This 58-year-old patient from Washington, approached Hasson & Wong in the hopes of restoring his frontal zone, mid-scalp and crown, as well as touching up his temples. His hair began to thin around the age of 28, and over the years he slowly progressed to a Stage VI on the Norwood Hair Loss Scale - characterized by the classic ‘horseshoe’ hair loss pattern. This would be his second surgery, as he had previously undergone a hair restoration procedure at a different clinic back in 2007 (2500 FUT). This patient’s hair loss was likely due to genetics, as his maternal grandfather also presented with male pattern baldness.
Since the patient is based in the USA, he decided to submit an online consultation to Hasson & Wong for review by the doctors. Upon review of his case, Dr. Hasson determined that he was best suited for a 4000-5000 FUT procedure dedicated to restoring his frontal zone, mid-scalp and crown. His previous procedure had unfortunately left him lacking in density in these regions.
On the day of surgery (in September 2016), Dr. Hasson and his team successfully harvested 4481 grafts via the FUT extraction method. Of these grafts, 1280 were singles, 2996 were doubles and 205 were multi-hair grafts. The majority of these grafts were dedicated to the patient’s frontal zone and mid-scalp and temple points in order to maximize the cosmetic impact of the surgery. A smaller portion (around 830 grafts) were allocated to the crown.
