ISHRAT JAHAN FAKE ENCOUNTER and IPS Satish Chandra Verma Case

The Home Ministry has dismissed an Indian Police Service officer from the Gujarat cadre, Satish Chandra Verma, who had assisted the Central Bureau in its investigation into the alleged fake encounter case of Ishrat Jahan, a month before he was scheduled to retire. The Home Ministry dismissed Verma on August 30 a month before he was to retire on September 30. IPS Satish Chandra Verma has challenged and filed a petition in the Supreme Court against two orders of the high court. (NDTV), The Ishrat Jahan Encounter is an ongoing case where officers of the Ahmedabad Police Crime Branch and members of the Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau (SIB) of Ahmedabad are accused of fatally shooting four people on 15 June 2004 encounter killing.
