Dear  all,
In this video, we have explained,
how to read out site survey map, with 2 survey maps.
Check the Map Type
There are several types that vary depending on the purpose for which they were drawn. There are inconsistencies among the types, so make sure you are working with the right type of map. For example, using a large transportation map that covers an entire state is of little use if you are trying to measure the size of a town. Instead, use a boundary survey map, which establishes the sizes and boundaries of property lines in an area, and provides much more detail.

Figure Out the Scale
You'll usually find the scale at one of the corners. Scale is the ratio of distances on a map to the corresponding values on earth, according to Dictionary.com. For example, a map with a scale of 1:10,000 tells you that every inch, centimeter or meter on the map corresponds to 10,000 inches centimeters or meters at that place on earth. You can measure any section of the map with a ruler and know what it represents on the ground.

Learn the Legend
Look at the map's legend, which is a list of the symbols used on the map and what they mean. Not all maps carry a legend, but you can find lists of land survey symbols at several official institutions like the Bureau of Land Management. Symbols can represent lakes and rivers or bridges and telephone lines. Boundaries for states and counties are represented on the map with different types of lines.

Traps for the Unwary
Maps are not exact tools. Because of the difficulties of representing three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional medium like paper, there are inconsistencies among different maps depending on the system used. Be sure to check that you are using the right map for your job. Reading a land survey map accurately is a skill that takes study and practice to master. Land surveyors usually earn bachelor degrees in cartography, geography and surveying.
