Form 1116 Schedule B is filed when a taxpayer has foreign tax credit carryovers from a prior year.  Generally, unused foreign taxes can be carried forward up to 10 years before they expire.

In this example, the taxpayer has unused foreign taxes carried over from previous years.  Schedule B is completed to report the carryovers and the amounts that are used in the 2022 tax year.
