Mercedes-Benz makes the switch from diesel to plug-in electric in the updated GLC medium SUV.

Electrification is coming folks, even to Australia. Which is why the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 e is such an interesting step for the luxury brand. As a plug-in hybrid it's a halfway house between old tech and new and it does a pretty good job of straddling the divide. You get around 40km of emissions-free electric range backed up by turbo-petrol power when the battery is depleted. It's a taster of what's coming down our automotive highway without having to go out and buy a Tesla.
