Throughout History there have been many brutal execution methods which have been used to take the life of a prisoner. The oubliette was used during the Medieval period and this was a hole in the ground of a dungeon where a prisoner was simply left to rot. A prisoner would find themselves locked inside of a small coffin for days, weeks and months and they would receive hardly any food and they could not move. It was horrific and was similar to immurement also and the oubliette. There is an image of one woman in the Mongolian desert being left in one of these wooden boxes and it was brutal.
