The 400 Rupees Commemorative Coin
The 400 Rupees Commemorative Coin Proof Set of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji which was released in April 2022 by Shri Narendra Modi to celebrate the 400th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. This commemorative coin was issued at ₹4415 for Proof Set in Wooden Box Package by the Mumbai Mint.
Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji (1 April 1621 – 11 November 1675) was the ninth of ten Gurus who founded the Sikh religion and the leader of Sikhs from 1665 until his beheading in 1675. He was born in Amritsar, Punjab, India in 1621 and was the youngest son of Guru Hargobind Sahib, the sixth Sikh guru. Considered a principled and fearless warrior, he was a learned spiritual scholar and poet whose 115 hymns are included in Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the main text of Sikhism.
The Rs 400 is a non-circulating coin made of quaternary alloy i.e. 50% silver, 40% copper, 5% nickel and 5% zinc weighing 35 grams, 44 mm in diameter and milled with 200 serrations at the edge.
On the obverse, Ashoka Pillar, Denomination below with rupee symbol lettering भारत INDIA सत्यमेव जयते.
At the reverse, A ribbon label with text “400 ਸਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਗੁਰੂਪ੍ੁਰਬ ਸ਼ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂਤੇਗ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਜੀ” in Panjabi is flanked below the image of Gurudwara. Further, the text “ਗੁਰੂਦੁਆਰਾ ਗੁਰੂਕੇਮਹਹਲ ਸ਼ਰੀ ਅਹਮਰਤਸਰ” in Panjabi is inscribed besides the image of the Gurudwara and the text “ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਭਏ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇਗ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਸਗਲ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਪੈ ਢਾਪੀ ਚਾਦਰ” in Panjabi is inscribed on top of the image of the Gurudwara. Legend "श्री गुरु तेग बहादुर जी का 400 वर्षीय प्रकाश गुरुपर्व" in Hindi and "400th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji" in English is inscribed in the upper and lower periphery of the coin along with the year 1621-2021 inscribed below the image Gurudwara Guru Ka Mahal. Mumbai Mint Mark is mentioned at the below as "M".
The 400 Rupees coin was released for the first time in the history of Republic India coinage. The commemorative coin has a lot of text which will attract many collectors. Do comment below if you also hold them in your collection!
