Had a hood trim on a Mazda Tribute that had all of the plastic tabs broken out. In fact it was previously fixed with duct tape and silicone. Both of which ended up failing. None of the mounting tabs were salvageable. So we made new ones with Plast-aid and bolts. The trim is made out of ABS which Plast-aid actually becomes a part of on a chemical level. However it failed the sticky test (plastics become a slightly tacky with a drop of Plast-aid liquid) because of the chrome plating. So we cleaned of the old glue, duck tape, and ground off the chrome at the mounting points. Mixed a batch of Plast-aid, applied it to the trim when it was very wet and drippy to establish the chemical bond. Then applied it to the bolts to get in all the cracks and threads. As Plast-aid thickened, we built up each mounting point. Before it was too hard, we placed the trim in the hood to make sure that all the bolts were aligned with the holes in the hood. Then let the Plast-aid finish curing in place. Once it cured, we had to cut to bolts down a bit, because they were too long. We put lock nuts on the bolts, and the trim was installed and complete.
