Comedian Barry Humphries was farewelled yesterday at a private funeral in the Southern Highlands region of New South Wales.
Those close to the 89-year-old say he had battled inoperable cancer before his death last week.
They say hip replacement surgery conducted in February fast-tracked the comedian's death.
The Victorian Government is in talks with his family to hold a state funeral.
