The Hanging Lake hike (Glenwood
The Hanging Lake hike (Glenwood Springs, Colorado) is one of the best Colorado hikes you can do. It's challenging enough to get a workout, yet still accessible to beginners.

Hanging Lake trail is about a 1-mile hike (2-mile roundtrip) located near Glenwood Springs. There's one parking lot located off I70 as you drive through Glenwood Canyon. It fills up quickly. Be sure to get there early to ensure a spot. Bathrooms are available at the trailhead.
The Hanging Lake hike starts on a paved pathway along the river, with train tracks running parallel on the opposite side. You can see canyon walls before the hike even starts.
Hanging Lake itself is beautiful, but don't rush the hike. Enjoy everything on the way up. As you'll see in the video, there are tons of waterfalls along Hanging Lake trail. Not to mention some interesting wildlife (I saw a Marmot and a several beautiful blue birds) and beautiful views of the canyon.
There is absolutely no swimming in Hanging Lake. Please respect the rules & help keep it beautiful.
After you've seen Hanging Lake, continue up the trail for another 1/10 of a mile to get to the waterfalls. They are some of the most amazing waterfalls you've ever seen, and you get super close to them. You can even walk right underneath the largest one. It's 100% worth it! In my opinion, the Hanging Lake waterfalls are more beautiful and impressive than the lake itself.
