Happy to introduce some new
Happy to introduce some new inhabitants of my safe, Mr Glock34Gen4 and Mr Browning High Power, both 9mm pistols. I bought the Browning HP (or GP) mostly for collectability reasons: It's a Belgian gun that more or less conquered the World: many Western Armies use it as a sidearm, including of course the Belgian Army, as well as the British Army, it was the last design of firearmgenius John Moses Browning, some consider it the improved version of the 1911, we Belgians of course like to emphasise that it was built by FN, our national armory, who has become a pretty important player in the international arms scene, FN's designer Dieudonne Saivé designed the double stack magazine, and the pistol was more or less built around that design. Great gun, very reliable, easy to shoot, very accurate,... In 1935, the ideal slogan for this gun would have been: Perfection.
A more recent arms designer used this slogan instead, and that brings us to the other new gun I bought, the Glock34Gen4. I already had a Glock19 (Gen3) but I couldn't shoot well enough with it, to my standards as a targetshooter that is. Since we, in Europe, are not allowed to carry a gun anywhere but in the confidence of our own home and on the shootingrange during Practical/IPSC training, I see only disadvantages in a short barreled gun, therefor I bought the 34. Longer sight radius, better trigger, slimmer grip in the Gen4 (if you leave the grip-inserts off), make it a much better target gun, to me that is. Being used to the single/double action trigger of my CZ85Combat, it will take me a bit of training to shoot the Glock very well, but I also bought 10,000 rounds of 9mm to take care of that.
