The second best thing about this easy pumpkin spice bread is versatility of the applesauce and the pumpkin puree. You can decide which one to use depending on what you have or what you would prefer to bake in your bread. Ingredients:
3 cups of unbleached all purpose flour
½ tsp. alaea Hawaiian sea salt
one ¼ ounce packet of Red Star’s quick rise yeast
2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
¼ cup milk, lukewarm + 1 tsp. if you are using pumpkin puree
¼ cup water, lukewarm
¼ cup honey or pure maple syrup
⅓ cup applesauce, equivalent to a 3.2 ounce packet of applesauce or use pumpkin puree
butter for greasing bowl for rising and for greasing loaf pan
1 egg white for brushing atop loaf before baking
cold milk for brushing over loaf after baking while the loaf is still hot
