Doctors at Sierra Vista Regional
Doctors at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center have performed the first surgery in San Luis Obispo County with the help of a robot.
The DaVinci Surgical System, a $2 million robotic tool, was put to work Tuesday morning to assist Dr. Elaine Yin perform an hysterectomy.
With the use of this tool, the surgery only required about a one centimeter incision.
Traditionally, it would have been 12-14 centimeters. Smaller incisions for surgeons means faster recovery time for patients.
