Short Line Railroad Switching! Almost
Short Line Railroad Switching! Almost the entire fleet of CCET locomotives railroad switching at the Sardinia, Ohio railroad wye. Most awesome assortment of locomotives ever in one place! Cincinnati Eastern Railroad had a scrap metal train stop at the wye to swap the engines around. First, the train crosses a big railroad trestle near Mount Orab, Ohio. This is where Part 2 takes over from the video I posted a couple days ago. Then we see the other side of the train in Sardinia. The scrap metal gondola cars are cut off on the west side of town. The locomotives move to the wye where other locomotives are moved around. The green locomotive was set on the west leg of the wye when I arrived. Then we see both B36-7 engines, the new SD40-2 and both GP15-1 locomotives as they move the units into place for future moves. All CCET locomotives are seen in this video except for the MP15DC switcher which was working near Bzak on the west end of the line ( just east of Newtown, Ohio ). It is rare to see so many locomotives moving around in one area on the Peavine Line. Also, on the east end of town there are 2 ex Norfolk Southern SD40-2 locomotives in storage for a grand total of 9 locomotives in Sardinia at the same time! There is another locomotive nearby in Winchester, an SW9 that is owned by the grain elevator.
After the locomotives are done being moved about, the train is put back together and continues on toward Cohen Recycling in Macon, Ohio. The SD40-2 that was recently acquired by CCET is needed for the heavy rock trains that have finally started up. Rock shuttles run from Hanson quarry at Plum Run, Ohio to the Bzak area near Milford , Ohio. Make sure that you watch Part 1 for this video. It shows 3 matching locomotives working Huhtamaki and then taking the 6 gons east through Williamsburg and Mount Orab almost all the way to Sardinia where this video starts. Filmed January 27, 2022.
