Modified Epley Maneuver in Sidelying-Posterior Canal Canalithiasis BPPV

This video demonstrates how to perform a modified Epley maneuver to treat left sided posterior canal BPPV canalithiasis. If a right-sided canalithiasis is suspected, perform the steps but with the head rotated 45 degrees to the right during the first step (i.e. Hallpike-Dix testing position) and progress in the opposite direction as demonstrated in the video. A successful treatment is typically indicated by vertigo in the first test position, i.e. hallpike-dix test, no vertigo or nystagmus with the following head rotation 90 degrees to the opposite side, followed by vertigo and nystagmus when rolled onto the patients side, followed by no complaints of vertigo when returned to sitting from sidelying.
