Following on from my earlier video in May and marsh harriers we have a success story again at RSPB Fowlmere, the young adult male and female have successfully raised 3 youngsters which all fledged around the third week of July. Previous to that we have to go back to 2007 when 3 fledged then, so it's brilliant to be able to pop along to the brilliant Fowlmere reserve ringing with the sound of Turtle Doves almost wall to wall and watch these young birds taking their first steps to what is hopefully a long life.

In this film you can see two of the Juveniles and briefly one of the adults, two of the Juveniles seem to be quite close and hang around together, the 3rd tends to be nearby but not as playful although that is likely to be different in the air.

The adult Male is doing most of the work bringing back prey for the young ones to eat, others have seen him bringing in small rabbits so he is feeding them well and they are gradually starting to fly a bit more around the immediate area of the nest raher then the initial hoping to and from the nest to their favourate perches.

The best place to view them is from the Drewer Hide but you can also see them from the Reedbed hide when they like to sit on the other side of the trees to the ones nearest Drewer.

It should be a fun filled few weeks as the youngsters start to forage more and learn to hunt for their food.
