This is how I went from DYED BLACK hair to light golden blonde.
**MY HAIR WAS DYED BLACK**
-If you hair is virgin and has never been colored before, obviously skip the color remover step. Depending on how stubborn your hair is, you might only need to use the hi-lift color once.
PRODUCTS USED
Color remover (myHD at home color remover) - you can use any brand
L'oreal Hicolor Hilights in Ash Blonde
Lightening Powder
30 volume developer
Blonde hair color or toner of choice
(I purchased everything at Sally's Beauty Supply)
THE PROCESS
Step 1- Medium Brown
- Use a color remover at least once to take out some of the color build-up (I then waited 24 hours)
- Apply the hi-lift color to your hair (I mixed it with 30 volume developer) -- ONLY APPLY IT TO YOUR ROOTS FOR THE LAST 10 MINUTES OR SO -- Follow the directions inside box for timing.

Step 2- Light Brown
- Apply the hi-lift color again -- ONLY APPLY IT TO YOUR ROOTS FOR THE LAST 10-15 MINUTES
Step 3- Blonde
- Mix lightening powder (bleach) with 30 volume developer and apply to hair
- Check on it every few minutes, and wash it out when it is as light as you want it.
- Apply blonde hair color or toner of choice
****The whole process took me 3 months, but you could do it in less time if you want to. I would recommend at least waiting a week in between each step and deep condition A LOT.
***I would never suggest using anything higher than 30 volume developer!!!

This is the first time that I have ever been blonde. I attempted going blonde 2 other times in the past (once by myself and once at a salon) (both times using only bleach) and my hair ended up way too damaged to fully become blonde.

FAQ's:
How did you get your roots a darker blonde color?
- I did not apply any bleach to my roots at all. However, when I was applying the golden blonde hair color (the very last step), I did put that on my roots. The color tinted my roots, giving me that medium / light brown color. This not only looks more natural (in my opinion), but it also makes my hair less high maintenance because my roots don't look as harsh when I have regrowth.
How do you touch up your roots?

Did you lighten your eyebrows?!?!
