Packaging Design Fundamentals (how to design) and what to Consider as a Client (tips). In this video I share information and things to consider when engaging with someone to work on packaging for your product. This will be helpful for graphic designers who want to specialise in packaging. Timestamps below:
🕘 Intro: 00:00
🕘 Things to consider before you start working with a graphic designer: 1:01
🕘 Barcodes - What you need to know: 2:18
🕘 Information for your packaging: 3:27
🕘 Dielines, mock-ups and proofs: 6:03
🕘 Extras - Other packaging tidbits: 9:38

I cover the basics, explain the differences between UPC and EAN barcodes, what you need to have on your packaging (ingredients, allergens, label regulations, weight, shelf life, etc.), what a dieline is and what a knife is in the printing process. I share some examples of my work and some other interesting tidbits to consider.

I mention GS1 in this video for barcodes. New Zealanders, follow this link to be taken to their website: https://www.gs1nz.org/
