Rhodes refused to tap out or give up, but his arm was too damaged and he eventually passed out in the hold. The referee called for the bell and awarded the victory to Lesnar, who held on to the submission for a few more seconds before letting go. Lesnar looked exhausted and surprised by Rhodes' performance, while Rhodes received a standing ovation from the crowd for his gutsy effort.
