Born on March 7, 1906, Harold Wolf grew up in Wabash, IN as became co-owner of the family business, Beitman & Wolf Department Store which was originally founded in 1846. A lifelong resident of Wabash, IN, he had a long record of service to the community where he served on the Wabash City Schools Board of Education, was active in the work of the Wabash Chamber of Commerce, and was a veteran of World War II which is when he met his wife. He was honored by the Wabash Community when he was chosen as the Man of the Year by the Wabash Chamber of Commerce in 1974.

This audio is an April 8, 1973 interview of Harold Wolf (Beitman & Wolf Department Store) that was done by George Dingledy as part of the Wabash Carnegie Public Library Oral History Project.

From 1970 to 1987 Wabash Carnegie Public Library and members of the community worked on an Oral History Project that interviewed multiple people in Wabash. These were recorded on cassette tapes, which were later converted to CD in 2006. In the library, we have CDs that are available to check out and transcripts of the interviews located in the genealogy area that are available to view in the library.
