Once again, this game ends
Once again, this game ends after Titanic Monarch is beaten no matter how many Chaos Emeralds you have as Tails or Knuckles.
However, if you're Sonic and you manage to beat Eggman in Titanic Monarch with all of the Chaos Emeralds in tow, the Phantom Ruby will take both of them into a warped reality known as the Egg Reverie.

In Egg Reverie Zone, the Heavy King of the Hard-Boiled Heavies finally makes his grand reappearance. He has already used the Phantom Ruby's power to transform himself into the cosmic Phantom King, and plans to use the ruby's powers even further to take over the world, himself.
Eggman doesn't like the freewill King is showing off, and tries to take the Phantom Ruby back from him for his own gains. Phantom King simply uses the ruby to warp Eggman offscreen.
And then there's Sonic, who's witnessing all of this happening in from of him... while he still has all of the Chaos Emeralds! Using their combined powers, Sonic transforms into Super Sonic one last time to challenge both Eggman and Phantom King into a multi-dimensional 1v2 final battle!

In this TRUE final battle, you have more control over Super Sonic's flight than in any other Sonic game. You can run on the ground if you want, but you can also start flying by double jump, and his flying essentially handles just like how you use Super Sonic as his Final Smash in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and for 3DS/Wii (but no longer the case in Ultimate).
Super Sonic also has a sort of Flash Dash, here, but it uses Rings, so I wouldn't use it too often, because you'll need those rings for this double fight.
Both Eggman and Phantom King need to be hit 8 times to beat each of them. Every time one is hit, he drops the Phantom Ruby and the other one catches it to fight you, instead. Eggman will simply use his contraption of a machine to harmlessly punch you away, but he can also use the Phantom Ruby to fly around extremely fast.
However, Phantom King is the more dangerous foe, here. He shields himself with ruby orbs that you have to hit through, but if he launch them at you, they can actually hurt Super Sonic and make him lose some Rings! In both opponents cases, you're pretty much waiting for openings. At least there will always be Rings flying around, and Super Sonic sneakingly has a Lightning Shield to draw them in, as well. Just don't lose them all or you'll have to start the whole fight over.

While Phantom King is the first of the two you fight, he's also the first to go down. After beating Eggman one more time, Super Sonic tries flying straight at him in a final attempt to take back the Phantom Ruby!
He somewhat succeeds in his efforts as Eggman loses the ruby, but the force was too much for Super Sonic to handle that he loses the Chaos Emeralds, as well, turning him back to normal.
The 7 Chaos Emeralds finally got to interact with the Phantom Ruby before they were suddenly scattered away. This interaction causes another phantom portal to appear, sucking Sonic and the Phantom Ruby in it.
Outside of all of this, the Titanic Monarch saw its own destruction as Tails and Knuckles were able to escape from Little Planet. The planet was once again liberated from Eggman's corruption and free to disappear in peace.
All that was left was for Tails & Knuckles to wonder what happened to their blue hedgehog hero and ally. As for Sonic himself, he had lost the Phantom Ruby, but its power was taking him into a brand new dimension he has never seen before.
Hopefully, whatever... forces... he has to deal with in this new dimension will give him a good time... Right...? Alas, that is another story...

After beating a saved game and going through the skippable credits, the file you beat the game will now be labeled "CLEAR". Just like in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, this means you can now replay that file from almost every zone in the game, all except for Egg Reverie, though.
Thanks for watching my playthrough of this fantastic tribute of a Classic Sonic game, but I'm far from done with Mania! Although Sonic Mania Plus is coming out soon, I want to record more playthrough before that happens, and even afterwards, starting with one for Tails, and then Knuckles.
