From 02:28 the cave allegory begins.
We find Plato's allegory of the cave in his work "Politeia", often translated as "the state", which can be misunderstood: Polis is the city, or the group of people that formed the civic community of such a city. A city like Athens in antiquity, also called city-state, but not comparable with a state like Germany. The perfect state described by Plato is very different from our country. For example, in that it is not led by a female politician with a doctorate, but by a philosopher. One who has recognized the "Idea (or Form) of the Good“.

What is this Idea of the Good? The answer to this, as far as Plato can give one, can be found where Plato's allegory of the cave can also be found. In the seventh book of "Politeia". This parable is one of the basic texts of Plato's philosophy, because it illustrates his ontology or metaphysics and epistemology.
