Hydraulic Grade Line (HGL) & Energy Grade Line (EGL)
Energy Grade Line/ Total Energy Line (EGL/TEL):
TE =P/γ+V^2/2g+Z
Hydraulic Grade Line (HGL):
HG =P/γ+Z

Loss of head due to sudden contraction of pipe, h_c=(1/C_c -1)^2  (V_2^2)/2g
=0.5 (V_2^2)/2g
Where C_c= co-efficient of contraction and V_2= velocity after contraction
(b) Loss of head due to sudden expansion of pipe,  h_e=〖(V_1-V_2)〗^2/2g
Where, V_1= Velocity in small pipe, V_2= Velocity in large pipe.
(c) Head loss at the entrance of pipe, h_i=0.5 V^2/2g
(d) Loss of head at the exit of pipe, h_exit= V^2/2g

For the system below calculate the EGL and HGL values and show these values on the figure below. The pump delivers a head of 200ft. The pipes are made of new cast iron with C=130 (f=0.018) (30points)
