This is the first of 7 webinars designed to build your trading foundation. To make a lasting impact to your trading you must commit to using these webinars as a foundation to your trading journey but you will ultimately need to take ownership in order to succeed.

Today we will cover the phases of trading, common problems traders run into, and how to solve them. Then we will teach how to read price and volume action, the building blocks of technical analysis.

First you need to identify which stage of a trader you are. By identifying your current strengths and weaknesses you will be more efficient at allocating time in the areas necessary to improve.

Stage 1: Unprofitable
Stage 2: Boom & Bust
Stage 3: Profitable

Once you've identified which stage of trader you are, narrow your focus to what repeated issues or mistakes you make. Common trading mistakes are:

System Hopping, Oversizing, Overtrading, Randomness, Overconfidence, Under confidence, FOMO, Buying Extended/Late, Using Too Many Indicators, Lack of Risk Management, Lack of Sell Rules, Lack of Post Trade Analysis.

Being able to interpret price action as a trader is as important as a doctor being able to interpret their patient's charts. Past price action leaves clues behind that retail traders can use to improve our trading decisions; what to buy, when to buy, where to place our stop loss, and when to sell.

One of the most important aspects of technical analysis is identifying the current trend of a stock. More traders lose money trading against the longer term trend than nearly any other trading mistake. Institutional investors accumulating (uptrend) or distributing (downtrends) shares in a company is what ultimately creates the trends we see on the chart.

Stage Analysis was created by legendary trader Stan Weinstein as a way to simply identify the trend a stock trades in. It is broken down into four separate stages:
Stage 1 - Basing
Stage 2 - Uptrend
Stage 3 - Topping
Stage 4 - Downtrend

We use the charts of ROKU, ELF, and UBER as examples to point out different stages the stock trades in along with details about their basing/consolidation areas. As traders, locating these tight areas on the chart presents us with the best risk/reward spots to start a position.

With tight areas we can use tighter stops and limit the risk needed to take to a trade. The top of this area of consolidation is often referred to as a pivot, because it is a pivotal moment in time where momentum should enter the market. That momentum move, or breakout, is the typical buy point for swing traders.

Enjoy!
