Author and satirist PJ O’Rourke has died at the age of 74. This is an interview he did with 7.30’s Kerry O’Brien back in 2009 about his life and career.

O'Rourke cut his teeth on an underground newspaper in Baltimore called 'Harry', before graduating in the early 70s to the groundbreaking magazine 'National Lampoon', which gave a start to performers like John Belushi and Bill Murray, who went on to Saturday Night Live and other mayhem. Then there was a decade with 'Rolling Stone' as the resident libertarian right-winger with many other magazines to follow. In his career of Gonzo journalism he churned out books including 'Parliament of Whores', 'Give War a Chance' and 'Republic Party Reptile'.
