Da Nang, South Viet Nam 1967  'Dog Patch'  'Hill 55'  U.S. Marines, 1st Marine Air Wing, !st LAAM Btln. I was stationed on Hill 55 )Echo Battery) for about 6 months (also at Da Nang Air Base, H&S Battery , maybe June 1967 until i was flown out of Da Nang Air Base to Kadena Okinawa, Then back to USA on January 1, 1968 on a Flying Tigers Airline plane from Kadena to USA.  The Flying Tiger airline plane lost an engine after take off,  and we turned back and safely landed back in Kadena, Okinawa, stayed overnight, and flew out on the same repaired Flying Tigers airplane on Jan. 2, 1968.

##### The Marine wearing 'flip flops' in this video was Cpl. Randolph 'Randy' Lake. He was to depart Viet Nam in February 1968. I believe he got out ok, and years later I found his death notice on the internet that he died at age 39 and had lived near or in Tonawanda, NY, he was married with children. I never found what he died from, if anyone knew him when he was alive, please leave a  comment below. He was a well trusted friend while I knew him in Da Nang Air Base and on the hill.
