Sergey Golyaev was one of the strongest lightweights in Russian mixed martial arts during their formation and heyday. His bright fighting style and signature appearance in a fur hat brought Sergey fame far beyond the borders of our country. He began his career back in 2001 and had 34 professional fights. The most significant victory in his career and, unfortunately, little known in our country, was his fight in Japan against the legendary Takanori Gomi. And then Sergey simply surprised everyone, managing to win the fight over the clear favorite by a split decision of the judges. Despite the fact that Golyaev was a two-time champion of Russia in Thai boxing and had excellent striking technique, he won the vast majority of his victories with the help of painful and choking techniques. But if the opponent was inattentive in the stand, he could immediately go to the floor of the ring. Today we will watch Sergey's fight at the S-70 League tournament, which took place in 2011. At that tournament, a match meeting of the national teams of Russia and Spain was held.
