In Rev Karla's new course, we are honored to be joined by Marlana Glaeser @marlanaglaeser.
Marlana Glaeser is a middle-aged, single mother (of six) who suffered years of childhood emotional neglect, childhood sexual abuse, years of religious trauma, and several types of abuse in her adult relationships. Her history in the conservative, Christian fundamentalist church and being raised in a predominantly conservative family (she believes) contributed to the suppression of who she was intended to be.
Through several years of therapy work with trauma-informed therapists and a self-driven determination to overcome the triggers from complex PTSD, Marlana was able to find her path into healing. She strongly believes healing is lifetime but can be managed with a healthy support system for one’s mental health. Marlana learned how to embrace the difficulties and turn them into a journey of walking and supporting others through their own healing journeys.
Currently, she resides with three of her children and walks boldly in her sexuality, as an out lesbian. Marlana is also the owner of Gentle Hands Consulting—a lifestyle consulting business who assists others with what she refers to as their “trauma healing jumpstart.” She is the author of I am her, she is me, which tells her story in grave detail.
This is a long way from her previous life of “conservative church lady,” who was married to a man (or three!), founded a conservative Christian non-profit, and believed she would burn in hell if she ever walked out of the corners of her cold, dark closet.
Marlana’s story will resonate with so many people who have deconstructed from evangelical, fundamentalist Christianity. From her first words in her video, Marlana shares from the heart—openly and vulnerably.
