I found this weird Swedish cube at my local Op-Shop (thrift store) and decided to bring it home to see if it could be repaired, and if it sounds any good.

It's a vintage speaker from the company Sonab, and it's designed by Stig Carlsson.  Manufactured from 1974-1978.

The speaker driver inside has suffered badly with foam rot, so we remove and repair the foam surrounds on the cone. We also give the timber veneer on the exterior a little attention before reassembly and seeing how they sound. It’s not quite a complete restoration, but they look and sound a lot better than when we started.

I put the finished product up against my current favourite speakers, Bang & Olufsen Beovox S45-II, and we see how the little Sonabs fare.  The results may shock you!
