Project 667 is a Russian Lada-class, diesel-electric, attack submarine designed by Russian Rubin Design. On December 23, the third submarine of this class was launched in St. Petersburg. Petersburg. The submarine's name is B-587 Velikiye Luki.
The Russian Navy already has two St. Petersburg. This is the flagship submarine St. Petersburg which was named B-585 and the second in its class which was named Kronshtadt and was given the name B-586.
The Lada class submarines belong to the fourth generation of submarines. These are not nuclear submarines, but conventional. Submarines of this class must engage enemy submarines as well as military surface ships. Lada class submarines also have weapons to destroy coastal targets. They have the function of laying mines and forming very dense minefields. Russian engineers claim that these submarines are distinguished by an extremely low noise level, which determines whether they will be detected on radar by enemy submarines.
