The story begins with a just king named Shahriyar ruling Algeria, India and China, and his younger brother Shah Zaman ruling Samarkand. We follow their journey after Shah Zaman discovers his wife's betrayal with a slave, and leaves for his brother, full of sadness and worry. King Shahryar, in turn, discovers his wife's betrayal, and turns from a just king into a cruel king who kills every bride after one night of marriage.
In this story, we show how Scheherazade, the minister's daughter, planned to change this brutal custom by telling exciting and interesting stories to King Shahryar. Scheherazade succeeds in attracting the king's attention and keeping him eager to hear more stories, which ultimately changes the king's heart and stops the killing.
