This is the very first podcast the former All Black coach has ever agreed to do.
John Hart coach of the legendary Auckland NPC side who won titles in 82, 84 and 85. That 1985 side also won the Ranfurly shield and kept it for 61 games which remains a record in shield history.
Then the All Black stuff: the good the bad and the real ugly.
We talk at length about the disgraceful fallout after the 1999 RWC semifinal loss against France, where he was spat on at a horse race in Christchurch, something which spiralled John into a deep and long-lasting depression.
John is a man who has devoted a lot of his life to NZ sport.
142 games for a total of three teams and a win record of 84.5%
He keeps his head down these days by choice so I can’t thank him enough for coming over to chat- especially about some of the less sexy stuff.
