In recent times, we have witnessed two very different outcomes from attacks on two frontline warships - Russian Moskva and American USS Carney.
In the late hours of 13 April 2022 Ukrainian presidential adviser Oleksiy Arestovych reported Moskva was on fire andOdesa governor Maksym Marchenko said their forces hit Russian BlackSea Fleet ship with two R-360 Neptune anti-ship missiles.
A radar image showed the ship was about 80 nautical miles (150 km) south of Odesa around 19:00 local time (GMT+3), shortly after the damage occurred. Two reports indicated the ship sank before 03:00, 14 April.

In late May, USS Carney (DDG-64) returned home after a seven-month deployment. During the deployment, the ship first sailed with the Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group, which entered the Eastern Mediterranean following the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks in Southern Israel and then entered the Red Sea with the Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group.
USS Carney had 51 total engagements with Houthi missiles and drones during its time in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden and is now considered one of the world’s most battle-hardened warship.
