Odisha: Coromandel Express and Yeshwantpur-Howrah trains derail, over 300 injured, several dead

Several passengers travelling in two trains - the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express and the Yeshwantpur-Howrah Express have been killed while hundreds of others have been injured in a major mishap in Odisha’s Balasore. According to reports, the Coromandel Express got derailed and hit a goods train. Several bogies of the Coromandel Express then infringed on the other track from where the Yeshwantpur-Howrah Express passed after just a few minutes and some of its bogies also got derailed. Large number of rescue personnel and ambulances have been mobilised for the relief and rescue operations, indicating the death and injuries are on the higher side. However, the Railways has till now not given casualty figures.
