From time immemorial the caravanserai of the Silk Road went  
through Azerbaijan, the gateway between Europe and "far Cathay". In  
the 21st Century, Azerbaijan is a crossroads once again, this time as  
a key player in TASIM, the Trans Eurasian Information Superhighway  
between Western Europe and China.
