There is a such thing as the right aperture to use for filmmaking. Let's breakdown and explain which aperture is the most "cinematic" or "filmic" by using some of our favorite films. It might not be the aperture value you expect. Examples from Roger Deakins- Bladerunner 2049, as well as Star Wars from various cinematographers over the years.
