France: SNCF Class CC 72000
France: SNCF Class CC 72000 diesel (no. 72064) departs from St Germain des Fosses on the 0904 Lyon Perrache to Tours train. Recorded 30th May 2009.

The CC72000 form a series of 92 diesel-electric locomotives built for SNCF by Alsthom. They were ordered in December 1965, the first was commissioned on 20 December 1967. Thirty of them were re-engined and renumbered in the range CC72100 and are still used on the Paris Est - Troyes - Belfort route.
In December 2009 CC72000 made their last regular commercial services on the Nantes - Tours - Lyon route, where they are now replaced by X 72500 DMUs. One of the main reasons for their withdrawal, in addition to their age, is the pollution generated by their diesel engines.

Saint-Germain-des-Fossés is a railway station in Saint-Germain-des-Fossés, Auvergne, France. The station opened on 18 June 1854 and is located on the Moret - Lyon, Saint-Germain-des-Fossés - Nîmes and Saint-Germain-des-Fossés - Clermont-Ferrand via Vichy railway lines. The station is served by Intercités (long distance) and TER (local) services operated by SNCF.
